I led a DevOps maturity assessment engagement for a major digital media and publishing group, using the BCG Customer/Partner Excellence (CPE) Cross-Functional Team Scorecard framework alongside the QUEST HDS Value Stream Mapping methodology. The engagement ran a structured series of workshops with cross-functional engineering and product teams to score maturity across 12 DevOps dimensions, identify gaps, and produce a prioritized improvement roadmap.

The deliverables included the scored BCG CPE Cross-Functional Team Scorecard (normalized), the QUEST HDS VSM Gaps Readout, a DevOps Advisory Scorecard, and an executive summary presentation. Multiple rounds of internal stakeholder demos and customer-facing sessions were facilitated with recorded Copilot summaries maintained as engagement artifacts throughout.

  • Normalized scoring model — each of the 12 dimensions rated across defined maturity levels (Adhoc → Repeatable → Defined → Managed → Optimizing)

QUEST HDS VSM Methodology

  • QUEST HDS VSM Gaps Readout Template v1.4 applied — value stream mapping across the software delivery lifecycle
  • Workshop definitions and detail workbook produced to standardize facilitation across sessions
  • Assessment questionnaire (v1.0) used for pre-workshop data collection from engineering leads
  • DevOps Technical Initiatives Backlog produced — prioritized improvement actions derived from gap findings
  • Supporting documentation produced per identified gap area: NFR automation, Cost of Unplanned Work, Incident-Driven Automation, Shared KPIs/SLOs, VSM KPIs, Role of Product Owner

  • Internal stakeholder demos (Oct 30, Nov 3) for alignment and review before client-facing delivery

BCG CPE Scorecard Application

Applied the BCG CPE Cross-Functional Team Scorecard framework — facilitated scoring sessions across all 12 dimensions, normalized scores, and produced the gap tab and radar chart for executive visualization.

QUEST HDS VSM Facilitation

Led VSM workshops using the QUEST HDS methodology — mapping the current-state software delivery value stream, identifying flow constraints, and producing the gaps readout with prioritized improvement areas.

Workshop Design & Facilitation

Designed and facilitated 7+ engagement sessions — workshop definitions, VSM process agenda, assessment questionnaire, virtual whiteboard facilitation, and Copilot session documentation across the full engagement.

Produced the DevOps Technical Initiatives Backlog — translating gap findings into a prioritized set of actionable improvement initiatives with supporting documentation per gap area.

Executive Deliverable

Delivered the executive summary deck and final DevOps Assessment Deliverable — presenting maturity scores, gap analysis, and improvement roadmap to senior stakeholders in the final client-facing demo session.
